a Message from our President - Bev Hinz
2021 heralds 30 years of operation of Graduate Women Sunshine Coast. Even though our name has changed over that time, the reasons for our establishment remain basically the same – to support the education of women and girls, and to provide friendship to a group of like-minded women.
The planning for our 30th birthday celebration has started. The date will be Sunday 8th August. More on this in future emails and newsletters, including requesting volunteers to assist with planning.
One of the outcomes of our 2020 AGM was to look at how we can continue to raise funds for our Bursary program. One of the agreed ideas was to seek voluntary pledging. And I emphasise the word ‘voluntary’.
After much thought and discussion at Executive Committee meetings, it was decided to delay the introduction until membership renewal time in July. At this time, members will be invited to contribute, according to their means and interest, either through direct donation (as exists now), or by pledging an amount – monthly, bi-monthly, etc or annually. One member has already done an annual pledge to support one of our projects.
A small group is being formed to look at providing additional information before the June 30 renewal time. Further details will be advised. Please consider helping us to continue to provide bursaries to struggling female students.
